CERN test nieuwe LHC-upgrade met tien keer meer botsingen

Back to overview

CERN has begun powering a 312-foot test stand for the High-Luminosity LHC upgrade, marking a major milestone in the project. The Inner Triplet String, cooled to near absolute zero in February, will be progressively powered circuit by circuit over the coming weeks to validate its superconducting magnets and other critical components. The upgraded collider is scheduled to begin operations in 2030 and will increase particle collision rates tenfold, significantly expanding the volume of physics data available to researchers.
