The Trump administration has begun a $400 million renovation of the White House East Wing, including construction of a 90,000-square-foot ballroom. Approximately 30,000 cubic yards of demolition debris has been transported to East Potomac Golf Links, a public golf course two miles from the White House. A National Park Service report found the soil contains toxic metals including lead and chromium, though the Department of the Interior states the transfer followed all legal standards and safety protocols.
