Evaluating a Multi-Agent Voice-Enabled Smart Speaker for Care Homes: A Safety-Focused Framework

Researchers evaluated a voice-enabled AI smart speaker for nursing homes using a safety-focused framework. The system combines speech recognition (Whisper) with retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) for tasks like resident identification, reminders, and scheduling. Testing 330 transcripts across 11 care categories showed 100% accuracy in resident ID and care categorization, 89% in reminder recognition with zero missed reminders, and 85% in calendar scheduling.
