Back to overview

German company Siemens Mobility has secured a contract to deliver Romania's first hydrogen-powered train fleet, consisting of 12 two-car units based on the Mireo Plus H platform. The trains, scheduled for passenger service in 2029, will operate on non-electrified lines at speeds up to 120 km/h and represent a significant step toward decarbonizing regional rail transport in Eastern Europe. The agreement includes 15 years of maintenance and repair services, with each trainset offering 136 seats and advanced safety systems.
