Japan Airlines test Chinese humanoidrobot op Haneda luchthaven

Back to overview

Japan Airlines has begun testing Chinese-made humanoid robots at Tokyo's Haneda Airport to assist ground crews with baggage and cargo handling. The Unitree G1 robots, standing 1.32 meters tall and weighing 35 kilograms, will work alongside human handlers starting in May as part of a trial running through 2028. The initiative aims to address Japan's labor shortages amid rising tourism and a shrinking workforce, while critical safety responsibilities will remain under human control.
