Australië kiest Rolls-Royce-turbines voor nieuwe marineschepen

Australia will equip its next-generation Mogami-class frigates with Rolls-Royce MT30 marine gas turbines, delivering 70,000 horsepower and enabling speeds exceeding 35 mph. The fleet will comprise up to 11 ships, with the first three built by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries in Japan before delivery to Australia, with the lead ship scheduled for 2030 service entry. This propulsion choice aligns with Japan's existing Mogami-class design, reducing integration risks while leveraging proven technology already deployed by multiple global navies.
