Samsung's Galaxy Watch6 successfully predicted vasovagal syncope episodes up to five minutes in advance with 84.6% accuracy in a clinical study involving 132 patients. The smartwatch used a light-based sensor to monitor heart rate variability and an AI algorithm to detect early warning signs of fainting. While the five-minute advance warning could allow people to sit down or seek help before losing consciousness, the feature remains in research phase and Samsung has not announced plans to make it available to consumers.
