GE Aerospace has received a U.S. Air Force contract to advance its GE426 engine, which will power autonomous combat aircraft designed to operate alongside manned fighter jets. The development program has progressed to the preliminary design review phase as part of the Air Force's initiative for medium-thrust autonomous platforms.
