Back to overview

The US Pentagon is accelerating development of the Long-Range Stand-Off (LRSO), a new stealth nuclear cruise missile designed to replace the aging AGM-86. The missile allows bombers to launch attacks from hundreds or thousands of kilometers away, keeping aircraft out of range of advanced air defense systems like those developed by China and Russia. The LRSO features stealth technology, improved navigation systems resistant to jamming, and low-altitude flight capabilities to enhance survivability and modernize the airborne component of America's nuclear deterrent.
