Back to overview

The US Nuclear Regulatory Commission has renewed the operating license for Duke Energy's Robinson Nuclear Plant in South Carolina for an additional 20 years, extending operations until 2050. The 759-megawatt facility generates electricity for approximately 570,000 homes and supports nearly 500 jobs while contributing $28 million annually in tax revenue to the region. Duke Energy has invested $1.7 billion in equipment upgrades to ensure safe operation during the extended period and plans to seek similar renewals for all 11 of its nuclear units.
