Researchers at the University of Iowa created a UV-responsive crystal material capable of extracting moisture from air by forming tiny storage spaces when exposed to light. The innovation uses metal-organic frameworks—porous structures combining metals and organic compounds—that reshape their molecular arrangement to trap water molecules inside nanoscale cavities.
