Dutch employers are concerned about rising fuel costs affecting both their operations and employees, on top of already increasing wage expenses. According to an AWVN member survey, employers do not see a general obligation to compensate staff for fuel costs, except for expenses directly related to business travel. Many employers are willing to discuss higher travel allowances, but only if the government raises the tax-free reimbursement rate from 23 to 25 cents per kilometre.
