China plaatst grootste drijvende windturbine ter wereld

China has installed the world's largest single-unit floating offshore wind turbine, the 16-megawatt "Three Gorges Pilot," positioned 70 kilometers off Yangjiang in Guangdong Province. The turbine, standing 270 meters tall with a 252-meter rotor diameter, operates on a semi-submerged platform held by nine suction anchors, enabling it to function in deeper waters with stronger winds. This innovative system can generate enough power for approximately 24,000 homes and represents a significant advancement in deep-sea renewable energy technology.
